There are many different types of custody.
Physical custody refers to where a child resides. If the arrangement
is closer to a 50/50 time split, it may be referred to as
shared custody (though shared does not have to be equal time).
Legal custody refers not to where the child resides, but to
decision making. Sole custody is when one parent has both
physical and legal custody. Custody is always subject to modification
by the court.
