Child support is based on a formula. The
formal uses both parties’ net incomes. Child support
has three components. One is the actual weekly amount. The
second is work related childcare and the third is uninsured
medical expenses, which are apportioned between both parties.
There are certain reasons why someone could be ordered to
pay more or less than what the child support requires. For
instance, if you have shared physical custody, the court could
reduce your support payment if you are the payor. Another
example is if you have significant assets available to you,
the court could order you to pay more than what the guidelines’
presumptive amount is.
